Delivery Driver Job Description

Role Title: Meals on Wheels Volunteer Delivery Driver

Role Description: Deliver hot and/or frozen meals directly to the homes of our East York clients, and providing caring social interaction.

Volunteer Criteria:

  • Must have access to a vehicle, along with a valid driver's license

  • Capable of delivering on a route alone OR with someone from their social bubble as a runner (onboarding process also applies)

  • Can follow all new health and safety meal delivery protocols put in place due to COVID-19

  • Volunteer commitment is flexible, and completely up to you. We do not require a set number of days/hours, but many of our current volunteers will come in once a week for 2 hours. "On-call" capabilities are also a plus.

  • NOTE: Before applying, please refer to a COVID-19 self-assessment test to ensure the safety of all staff and clients at our organization.

Where:

Meals are picked up from our office at 52-2 Thorncliffe Park Dr. All delivery addresses on each route are typically found relatively close to each other within the same vicinity in our catchment area.

When:

Food pickup times from our office is at 11:00am every day of the week. The delivery shift will normally last about 2 hours and will end upon arrival to our office following the completion of the route.

Training:

Proceeding the sign-up process, our Volunteer Coordinator will set a time and day that fits your schedule to come into our office for a small informative introduction and test route. This will consist of 3 clients and serves as an opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with the delivery process.
